Default Is my bellybutton ring supposed to have a red circle?

i got my bellybutton pierced about a month and a half ago and the people said that i can change it after a month, but im afraid to change it cause theres still a red circle at the top hole. it doesn't really hurt anymore but a little bit of pus still comes out. i clean it 2 - 3 times a day with dial anti-bacterial soap.should i change it or could it be infected? oh and it doesn't smell like i know most or all infections do.

OK i know lips and bellybuttons are different but when it comes to piercings they are the same, my lip ring still has a red ring and it gets puffy but it isn't infected. You might be allergic to the metal in you belly button ring. I found out I was allergic to metal after I got my lip pierced so you might wanna talk to your doctor and see about that.

A month is way too soon to change it. That red circle is normal, but the soap may be drying it out. I doubt it's infected this early on, though.

It sounds infected. When I got mine pierced, I used salt water to clean it several times a day. It never got infected.. not even a little. Try that.

you should clean it three times a day with H2Ocean or a salt solution and thats it (soap will dry the skin out ). Also you shouldn't even think about changing it out until at least 3 months have passed.

As for the puss, if it is whitish, then it is normal but if it is greenish then go to the doctor because it is infected.

good luck :-D
