Default When I dye my hair red, it keeps coming out brownish...?

I used to go to a stylist to get my color, and she had similar problems, saying that my hair "doesn't take to red", and would use special kinds. It's too expensive and so now I do it at home myself. My hair is naturally medium to dark brown, so when I dye it a very dark burgandy color it comes out well, and when I want a medium auburn reddish brown it seems to work, but I want RED. Natural looking, but vibrant red. Not orange, and not dark burgandy, but that in between red that is so beautiful. My hair won't let me get that color!! What can I try? I keeps looking brownish auburn.
That's a good idea to bleach my hair. I'm a little concerned about how it'll damage it though. My hair seems to be getting thinner because of (probably) dying it and using a flat iron frequently.
Will this make my hair fall out or anything? Lol...

That's crazy because when I try to dye my hair brown(my nat. color) it turns red... Might have something to do with a guy stylist bleaching it 7 times in a row because he couldn't get the right color. Biggest hair mistake of my life 3 years ago and my hair is still falling out like crazy!

its OK to bleach your own hair, just pay attention to your body. when it starts stinging, check it to see if its ready. Also, wouldn't bleach it platinum, would go for an orange or yellow, as it holds natural colors better than white hair. White hair will be the brightest color of red you've ever seen

You need to bleach your hair first... obviously your hair is going to look auburn or brown/red, your hair is brown and you are mixing in red colours...
Im not trying to be mean but its common sense that mixing red and brown is going to make red/brown.
