Hair styles for thick red hair?

I have very thick hair, its till the top of my breast so it is not very long.(http://shrinkies.net/length.jpg its about 14" on this pic) and its wavy.
after shower its crazy and all around my head and not just after shower but it gets a lill better.
PPL say to use a hair Straightener and i did but the volume was the same so don't say that.
I wash it 1 or 2 times in a week, If I will wash it more it will be very dryed. I used a shampoo that strait my hair but it worked for the first some times and now it doesn't.
I need some hair styles ideas for my hair, AND I DON'T WANT TO CUT IT!!! PLEASE HELP! If u know some web sited or have some ideas please write 2 me!!!
