Is it possible to put a variety (from yellow to red to black) of colored clothes...

...in the washing machine...? without having colors damaging one another. Like say, a cold wash as for wool items? Or would I have to group them in different colored parts?

My husband does it all the time despite my begging otherwise, and typically they come out fine. We have the occasional blue bleeding onto whites about once a year, but if the items have been washed plenty of times, they should be fine. I also have a friend who uses a "dye catcher" in the wash, so that things won't bleed onto one another.

It's possible, but not recommended. I would leave out any reds for sure and try to wash them on their own or only with dark colours that they will not harm if they bleed. I probably wouldn't do yellows with darks, because they could become dingy and grey.

I haven't bought new close for a while, so I'm fairly confident none of my colors will bleed. I use cold water only, and just throw all the crap in there at once. Works for me, but bothers my girlfriend
